Varsity Boys Basketball comes up short vs. Charlevoix

Game Date
Feb 11, 2020
Score
RAMBLERS: 50
CHARLEVOIX: 62

The Boy's Varsity Team welcomed Charlevoix to the gym in an anticipated, very tight rivalry game. The Ramblers came into the game looking to get back on track after dropping their last game at the hands of Traverse City St. Francis on Friday, February 7. The Ramblers came into the game with a record of 10-3 (5-3 LMC). The Rayders entered into the game with the same 10-3 record and 6-2 in the LMC.

The first quarter was how everyone expect a tight contest that was back and forth. The first quarter ended in a 13-13 tie between the two rivals. The Ramblers were lead by Pete Calcaterra and Aiden Brehm who each contributed five points. The second quarter it was much of the same. However, as they headed into the locker room the Rayders were able to find a slim advantage, as they lead 29-27. Jacob Steinhoff lead the way with five points in the second quarter.

In the third quarter, the Ramblers found a way to pull themselves not only even, but into the lead. The Ramblers lead at the end of third quarter, 42-41. Once again in part to Calcaterra who had eight of their 15 points. However, everything went south in the fourth quarter, as the Ramblers struggled offensively. They could not  hit from deep as quite a few were thrown up Brehm was the only one to get on to go in. The Ramblers got severely outscored in the fourth quarter, 21-8. The struggles were at the free throw line as well in the fourth. As the team went just 1-6. The offensive struggles led to a Rayder 62-50 victory over the Ramblers.

The Ramblers have now dropped two straight and have fallen to 10-4, 5-4 in the LMC. They will now have to focus on their upcoming game on Friday, January 14 at East Jordan. It will be a Varsity double header with the Girls at 5:30 and Boys at 7. If there is a upside for the Ramblers, the last time they played East Jordan it was a 70-51 victory and East Jordan sits at 7-5 on the year, 3-4 in the conference.
