Coach Herrmann thoughts :

" I could not be prouder of our teams today. This is our toughest course of the season, and we saw tons of improvement from the last time we ran here in September. We've gotten smarter about being patient the first mile and staying mentally tough all the way to the finish.

Gavin Carson had an amazing race. His goal was top ten, and he barely out-kicked another runner down the homestretch to finish in ninth. No one has worked harder than this kid; he put in the miles this summer and gives his all at every practice. He went from finishing 38th at the conference meet last week to 9th today, and I just couldn't be happier for this remarkable kid. Our other seniors, Will Maginity and Jeffrey Kerr, put in great performances as well, and our underclassmen keep learning more and more about how to race from start to finish.

Ava Maginity has won every single individual race she's run in this season, and she kept that streak up today as conference champion. I have been so impressed with her maturity this year as she has focused more on race strategy, and I'm excited for her to see how far she can go in the postseason. We had several girls battling illness or injuries, and I was so proud of them for hanging in there and giving their all.

Our conference is always so tough, so we were pleased with how we finished among such great competition.

Now it's on to the next challenge as we head to Mancelona on Wednesdays for our pre-regionals meet and look to keep things rolling into the postseason. We've got our work cut out for us with so many great teams in our area, but I think we could really surprise some people. This is a special group of kids, and I'm so proud of each one of them."
