Aug 29, 2020

The Boy's Varsity team, ( 1-2-0 ) traveled to Northmen Stadium in Petoskey for a three team outing on Saturday, August 29. The Ramblers took on the Northmen to start the three game slate at 10 in the morning. The Ramblers were under attack from the opening kick. The fierce Northmen attack put constant pressure on the Rambler defense. The Northmen broke through for the only goal in the first half. The Ramblers spent quite a bit of the first half on the defensive end of the field but with stood the pressure. The Northmen would lead at halftime, 1-0. The second half was more of the same story, the Northmen continued the pressure and with having the wind at their backs, increased the urgency. The Ramblers would get a few good scoring opportunities but could not break through. The Northmen would add three more goals in the second half and secure the victory 4-0. The loss is the third straight for the Ramblers after winning their first game of the season. Jay Clawson ( Senior) had six saves to lead the Ramblers in goal.

The Boy's would then turn right back around at noon and take on Glenn Lake in game number two on the day. The Ramblers looked to revenge the Petoskey loss and end a three game losing streak. Glenn Lake jumped on the board early taking a 1-0 lead. The offense for the Ramblers looked a lot better than against Petoskey. The Ramblers were able to keep pressure on the Glenn Lake defense. The Ramblers were able to put one in the back of the net as Derek Word (Junior)  beat the Glenn Lake keeper with 10 minutes left in the first half. Just as fast as the Ramblers tied the game, Glenn Lake reclaimed the lead, 30 seconds after the Ramblers goal. Glenn Lake would take a 2-1 halftime lead. In the second half, the Ramblers had great offensive pressure and had many opportunity to tie the game, including two shots hitting the cross bar. As the game was winding down, Glenn Lake caught a break through the Ramblers defense and find the back of the net. That would seal the game for Glenn Lake with a 3-1 final. The Ramblers put 11 shots on net and Clawson had 8 saves in net. The loss moves the Ramblers to 1-4-0.
