Game Date
Aug 29, 2019

Tournament Results:

Pool Play: L vs. Calumet, L vs. Cadillac, W vs. Tri County

Bracket Play: W vs. Onaway, L vs. Big Rapids in Semifinals

The Lady Ramblers continue their overloaded beginning of the season with another competitive showing at the Cadillac Tournament on Thursday, where they played another 13 sets.  Boyne started the day with a very tough opponent in Calumet who ended up taking set one 20-25. Momentum shifted gears and Boyne took set two 26-24. Set three was a back and forth match between both teams with Calumet getting the last serving run and taking the set 11-15. The competition just got tougher as the Ramblers were paired with hosting team Cadillac. The Ramblers were never able to gain any kind of momentum as the Vikings completely picked apart there defense taking set one 11-25 and set two 5-25. Refusing to get back-to-back losses Boyne showed up for their final pool play game against Tri-County taking both sets 25-13. This landed the Ramblers at 3-4 in pool play with a 3rd place finish placing them in the “Blue Bracket”. Onaway was Boyne first opponent in bracket play facing a very similar situation as they were in just on Saturday in Pellston where Onaway took the victory in three sets. With spirits running high and Boyne not wanting a repeat performance they were able to take down Onaway but it took them all three sets. Onaway took set one 25-27 while Boyne was able to finish and take set two 25-22 and set three 15-9. Next up for the Ramblers in the Semi-Finals was Big Rapids. Boyne got off to an early start, dominating and taking set one 25-16. Big Rapids pulled it together and was able to take set two 16-25 and eventually punch out the win taking set three 13-15.

“Wow what a start to our season! We are only two weeks in and we already have competed in 31 sets. Today was overall a great day. The girls keep getting more and more competitive and I’m really excited to start getting into conference play after seeing so much competition already. We have the long weekend off but a busy week ahead in preparation to travel down to Birch Run for a tournament next Saturday (September 7th) where I am anticipating seeing more tough competition.”- Coach Mallory Slate
