"Boyne City goes 1-2 at the Pellston Quad Meet on Saturday.

The young Rambler team faced an experienced Onaway team first thing and took them to 4 sets. Onaway took the first set 25-20, Boyne took the second set 25-18, and Onaway ended up taking the next two sets 25-18 & 25-13. Unforced net errors and a break down in defense shook the Ramblers who were just not able to get anything going after that second set.  Senior Maggee Behling led the Ramblers in kills against Onaway with 7 while Junior Libero Bella Cosier added 13 digs and 4 aces. Freshmen Setter Ava Tarsi who has huge shoes to fill taking over for one of Northern Michigan’s best setters in Annabelle Seelye, had 2 aces, 6 digs, and 11 assists.

Boyne then was paired up with hosting team Pellston. Boyne continued to slump defensively and dropped the first set 15-25 but was able to find their grove and handily won the next three sets with a score of 25-18, 25-6, and 25-21. Junior Grace Dawson led Boyne with 7 kills, 4 aces, and 10 digs. Sophomore Morgan Deming & Senior Maggee Behling each added in 4 kills, while Freshmen Ava Tarsi had 14 assists and 2 aces. Junior Bella Cosier had 18 serve receptions and 4 digs. Senior Sarah Sterling had 2 kills and 4 aces.

Last for the Ramblers was Cheboygan who was just too much for the young inexperienced Rambler team to handle. Cheboygan came out strong both on the net and behind the service line taking set one 25-12. Boyne was able to rally and put some things together and take set two 25-18. Again the momentum shifted in Cheboygan’s way as they took set three 25-11. With one last chance the Ramblers rallied from an 8-point deficit to tie the Chiefs at 24. Just when it looked like the Ramblers could pull it out and force a 5^th set, 2 huge service errors kept Cheboygan in it and eventually allowed them to take the match 27-26. Junior Grace Dawson led the Ramblers at the net with 11 kills with Senior Maggee Behling following behind with 7. Senior Sarah Sterling came up big with some key plays and added 5 kills. Freshmen Ava Tarsi had 25 assists while Junior Bella Cosier had 22 digs and 31 serve receptions."
