Boyne City gets the sweep at home opening Quad Meet

Boyne opened the night against Tawas, an opponent who they only see when both teams face up at the Annual Birch Run Invitational. Boyne came out a big sluggish defensively but was able to find there groove at the net behind Seniors Sarah Sterling and Maggee Behling and Junior Grace Dawson who combined for 21 of the Ramblers 26 kills in the match.  Set one went to the Ramblers with a score of 27-25. Tawas was able to get the Ramblers flustered defensively in set two and ended up taking that one 25-21. The third and deciding set was all Boyne City who cruised to a 15-9 victory.

The Ramblers then took on Lincoln Alcona, an opponent who was new to the Wheelhouse. Boyne’s aggressiveness both defensively and offensively was just too much for them to handle as Boyne took both sets 25-9 and 25-8. Sophomore Morgan Deming stepped up and led the Ramblers with 6 kills that match followed closely behind by Dawson and Behling with 5 each.  Freshmen Setter Ava Tarsi chipped in 18 kills and 5 aces.

Closing out the night for the Ramblers was Jo’Burg who was originally scheduled to host this event. Due there school not being open, Boyne jumped on the opportunity to gain a home event. Set one started out all Jo’Burg with some tough serving and Boyne not being able to put anything together off their serve receive. The girls didn’t give up and were able to rally back from a 9 point deficit and take set one 25-22. Set two the Ramblers had the lead the whole match and eventually took it with a score of 25-20.  Dawson yet again led the Ramblers in kills with 6.
