The Freshmen Girls Volleyball team made the trip to Alpena on Friday morning to kick off the 2021-2022 athletics season and did a terrific job, winning the tournament under first year coach Aleah Holmes.

Starting off with pool play:

Game 1 against Grayling:

Set 1 score was 25-12. Boyne won.

Set 2 score was 20-25. Grayling won. 

Set 3 score was 15-9. Boyne won. 

Game 2 against Alpena:

Set 1 score was 25-15. Boyne won.

Set 2 score was 25-13. Boyne won. 

Game 3 against Ogemaw:

Set 1 score was 25-21. Boyne won. 

Set 2 score was 25-20. Boyne won. 

We came out as number 1 seed in pool play. Then, we moved on to bracket play as the number 1 seed. 

Game 1 in brackets against Grayling:

Set 1 score was 25-15. Boyne won. 

Set 2 score was 25-14. Boyne won. 

Game 2, the finals, against Ogemaw: 

Set 1 score was 25-23. Ogemaw won. 

Set 2 score was 25-23. Boyne won. 

Set 3 score was 15-9. Boyne won. 

"Which landed us in 1st place at the tournament! The girls sided out well and took care of free balls. Morgan Erickson did a great job on serve receive and defense. We had powerful serves today that paved the way for our win by Amelia Dunstan and Josie Wilson, who were also our top hitters of the day as well. Overall, the team worked really well together and had fun! "
